Berlin Permacomputing Meetup
Can someone with access to the calendar adjust the text for the permacomputing event on apr 19?
Description:
Permacomputing is a term that combines “perma” — as in permaculture — with “computing,” signaling an effort to rethink digital technology not as a disposable commodity but as a domain that can be part of sustainable, cyclical, and regenerative practices. Instead of equating technological progress with ever-increasing performance, bigger infrastructures, and rapid replacement cycles, permacomputing asks how digital systems can exist within ecological and planetary limits and still remain meaningful and functional.
The topic of the meetup is going to be: L5 – A Creative Coding Response to Permacomputing
L5 is a creative coding library in the family of Processing languages, implemented in Lua with LÖVE. It attempts to reckon seriously with principles of permacomputing, including design and documentation for offline use, suitability for older hardware, design for longevity, and exposing the underlying infrastructure. After a brief presentation and discussion of the project, we’ll discuss where it aligns and where it strays from permacomputing.
